Places to See in Germany
Germany is one of the oldest countries in Europe, although it only officially became a unified autonomic country in 1871. And being one of the oldest territories in the continent, it's not surprising at all that there would be so many places to see and visit in Germany. Given the kind of history that it has, it's definitely seen as one of the most interesting places in the world – and thus, it has also become one of the most popular tourist destinations when it comes to world travel (or, if you'd like to be more specific, European travel).
Given that it's one of the “must-see” places when trotting the globe, you might be wondering what the best places to visit in Germany are. And therein lies the problem, because there is no such thing as “the best places to visit in Germany” – there are so many wonderful and exciting places there that it would practically be sacrilege to try and pick out the best. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't any recommendations.
First, we have the cities. You most definitely cannot go to Germany without at least peeking into Berlin. Berlin is one of the foremost places to visit in the country – not just because it's the capital, but because it's a testament to both history and progress. Much of the architecture there is historic in one way or another, while the people, the vibe, the life and the culture are very much modern. If you're in Berlin, it's suggested that you have a tour of the Museum Island or shop at the Ku'Damm. There's also the Wall Museum there, for all you World War fans. Other cities in Germany that you may want to visit include Cologne (which is one of the art and culture capitals of Germany and Europe), and Potsdam (which has some of the most remarkable historic sites and parks in the country).
Then we have the other places to visit in Germany, those that aren't cities or cosmopolitan. Probably, the most familiar name to some would be the Schwarzwald or, as we would call it in English, the Black Forest. The Black Forest is one of the prettiest areas anyone can find in Germany, and contrary to its name, not very much of it is black at all, and parts of it could hardly be called a forest. The Black Forest is recognized as home to the cuckoo clock, although now it is better known for its delicious food and the numerous spa resorts that are scattered in their territory. This nature-bound area is definitely a place one must see when in Germany.
There are many other places to visit in Germany, some modern and metropolitan, while others are charming or traditional. They are all nevertheless special in their own ways and should be visited at least once in a lifetime.
